How To Stop Procrastination
Because it is very common for humans to get bored, get stuck, delay things, give excuses and basically fantasising about having it all without having to lift a finger.
Yes, that’s normal and that’s who we are.
Yet we are also driven, passionate, motivated, go getters, who want to get things done. We’re achievers.
It sounds contradictory yet procrastination and achievement are the two extremes of our productivity rhythms.
So if you find yourself on the other end, delaying that dreaded task for days now, don’t fret.
You’re about to hit the top end of your productivity with these tips.
How to beat procrastination:
Step 1: Quit giving Excuses.
Stop telling lies to yourself like “I’ll finish it on Monday” or “I will get it done once I’ve made myself that cuppa.”
Because you won’t and you know you won’t.
A great way to dodge excuses is to break your task into small portions that is simple to tackle yet motivating enough that you don’t need to give any excuse at all.
Step 2: Change your Environment.
What do you do when you’re stuck in the procrastination rut?
You get out of it.
How? By first getting out of your current environment.
This is pretty helpful when you’re self-employed.
You can try the cafe, the library or hire a creative space to work on your tasks.
Office goers can use noise-cancelling head phones or if your office allows for hot-desking, find a quieter corner to get the work done.
Step 3: Manage your Technical Distractions.
Eg: Facebook, Emails, Games…….
The Internet could be a major source of distraction.
If you’re bitten by the Internet bug, get one of those social media website blocking software and activate them on your computer when you’re working. One example is Freedom.

That said, sometimes, procrastination is helpful too.
It works as a negative motivation and helps you tackle tasks faster (eventually).
It also gives you the much-needed break from work. So it’s not all black and white.
There are many ways to beat procrastination and get to work.
